Zambia
We have long been established in Zambia as major exporter of quality used vehicles from Japan. You may even have seen our adverts in The Post newspaper! Some of our best sellers there are Toyota Mark II, Toyota Sprinter, Nissan Sunny, Nissan Rasheen, Mercedes Benz and a huge variety of trucks.
Importing into Zambia is very easy and there are no major restrictions. Please see below for more info:
Recommended ports
Most people choose to go through Dar Es Salaam, however some people in the south of the country do go through Durban in South Africa. There are usually 2 or more ships a month leaving from Nagoya and they take 3 to 4 weeks to reach either port.
Clearance and delivery from the destination port
Click here for a list of customs clearance agents. If you choose to go through Dar Es Salaam you will be able to collect the vehicle directly from your agent in Dar Es Salaam. If this is not convenient then you can arrange to have your vehicle delivered to the border crossing at Nakonde, or even closer to home.
Inspections and local regulations
Inspections and local regulations: From May 15th 2009 all vehicle imports into Zambia will need a JEVIC inspection certificate. This is carried out by an independent company in Japan and ensures the road-worthiness of the vehicle. For regular cars the charge is $250, and it may be a little more expensive for large trucks and buses.
Why buy direct from Japan?
Many Zambians choose to buy directly from Japan because quite simply you will be getting a better quality vehicle, with a lower mileage at a cheaper price. Vehicles made in Japan often have the highest grade options fitted as standard. We estimate that when you add everything up you will be saving at least $1000 compared with a similar quality vehicle bought locally.
