We have a growing presence in the Malawi market, and we are planning to get even bigger. Keep an eye out for our adverts which will be appearing in local newspapers soon. We are registered with the Malawian Embassy in Japan, which allows you faster access to Forex when you present your invoice at your bank, and also allows you peace of mind when making a purchase from us.

Importing into Malawi is very easy and there are no major restrictions. Please see below for more info:

Recommended ports

Dar Es Salaam is the most convenient port for Malawi, although it is also possible to go through Durban.

Clearance and delivery from the destination port

Click here for a list of customs clearance agents.

If you go through Dar Es Salaam you can collect the vehicle yourself, with the help of a reliable agent, or your agent can deliver it up to the Malawi border.

If you go through Durban you will not be able to collect the vehicle from the port as it is not permitted to drive imported vehicles on South African roads.

Inspections and local regulations

There are no specific regulations regarding Japanese vehicles, however be sure to check with your local authorities before making a purchase.

Why buy direct from Japan?

Many Malawians choose to buy directly from Japan because quite simply you will be getting a better quality vehicle, with a lower mileage at a cheaper price. Vehicles made in Japan often have the highest grade options fitted as standard. We estimate that when you add everything up you will be saving at least $1000 compared with a similar quality vehicle bought locally.
